Trying something new: Calendars 2010

Sun Nov 8, 2009, 1:02 PM
Hello, world!

It is quite possible that I have too much time on my hands, and postgraduate studies are to blame for that, but, regardless of the actual reason, I came up with a 2010 calendar based on the most popular water macro shots from my gallery. So in case you're looking for a pretty Christmas present (or just feeling charitable and willing to support my miserable postgraduate life), check it out: [link]

I've spent one day fantasizing about it and two days bringing it to life :aww: I'd love to get some [constructive] criticism. I am also planning to create a second calendar which will include all the less cliched and more colourful images from my gallery. Yes, I do have too much time on my hands.

R.I.P.

Wed Jan 14, 2009, 7:21 AM
I always thought that life is all about people. Discovering humanity and yourself through nature, art, music, literature, and, most importantly, other people's minds. What can be more fascinating than a human mind? The only tool in the entire Universe that does not only find and acknowledge patterns, but also has the unique ability to break them?

It is the pattern-breaking human minds that make all the great discoveries. Raising above stereotypes to comprehend the Truth. I might sound pathetic right now. But I have a reason for it.

A very good friend of mine left this world on the 31 December 2008. He had one of the most fascinating minds I have ever encountered. He was a scientist, and I will always remember all the long and thorough conversations we had and all the coffee shots we drank together. He was enriching my life for the past couple of years. Now when he's gone, I feel like there is a gap in my life and there is nothing and no one to fill it with. A part of my world is crystallized now and will evolve no further.

Rest in perfect peace, dear ~Killearnith :bye:

Spreading the disease

Dear *rhennau,

I don't really know how to tell you this, but the mafia wants you. I think I realized it when you put cuffs on me outside of Chicago and I saw you ignore my best friend. I'm sure you're ashamed enough to understand how awful I've felt. I'm returning your contact book to you, but I'll keep your photo as a memory. You should also know that I always will remember cocaine abuse.

Good luck on your short-term leave from jail,
Anna.

...

Ok, I have not gone mad, and *rhennau has my sincere apologies :lmao: For the explanation go to: [link] I nevertheless tag the following devArtists:

Macro Lens: to buy or not to buy?

Tue Sep 9, 2008, 2:11 AM
I think it is time to move on. I've been playing around with my Canon EOS 350D and its 18-55mm kit lens for about a year now, and I think my interests have finally crystallized: I am a macro fan. I adore many kinds of photography, but macro is something I want to do myself. Obviously, the kit lens doesn't quite cut it. In fact, it totally fails at macro. I need a new lens!

I know that many of the artists I watch here on dA make good use of the Kenko extension tubes. But I'm a little insane, you know. I recently got a huge bursary to support me in my studies (writing Masters, hehe), but I'm also working part-time, so I kinda have quite a bit of money atm, and I want to get myself something totally decadent.

I was thinking about the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens. I have already found an excellent offer, meeting the seller tomorrow. Now all I need is your advice... And encouragement :D

Should I go for it?

Second DD?! Yeah baby!

Sun Jul 6, 2008, 12:48 PM
Once upon a time, there was a deviation [link] . People seemed to kinda like it, and that surely pleased me. There was also a guy, =shadowblade6, who decided to leave the following comment to that particular deviation:
you could turn this into a fantastic wallpaper image if you were to stretch out the background and offset the dandelion to either the right or left sides, I think at least a few people would download it if you did :D

Since I got my first DD on "Daydreaming", the comments just kept coming and I simply could not keep up with the pace... That very useful comment by =shadowblade6 got lost in the pile and kept waiting for its hour.

It hasn't been waiting in vain, though. A couple of days ago, while doing some random comment mining, I stumbled upon it, and I was like "hmm, this sounds nice!" I didn't have any photos to work on atm, thus I decided to try and turn "Dandelion Wine" into a wp. Fiddled in PS for about 20 minutes, tried out the result on my PC, liked it, uploaded to dA, pressed the "Submit" button...

Guess what? Got my second DD today. That wp didn't just work. It really worked. Thank you,

=shadowblade6 - for the idea ;P
=Meyra - for making the DD suggestion to the admins
^archanN - for featuring my stuff... That was unexpected, you know!

To all my new watchers: I  you guys.:kiss::kiss: Sorry if it takes me a while to thank each and everyone personally. Sorry if I never get to thank you personally  I promise to give it a try, though ;P

Cheers & may your day be blissful :flowerpot:
